The 1998-99 UEFA Champions League was the 44th UEFA Champions League . The most compelling event of this year's game was Manchester United who won the championship. In the previous Premier League runner-up status, they took part in the qualifying match. From the group known as the death group, they entered the knockout stage with their second status. Then they knocked out the Italian Elite International. Milan , Juventus , and more than 80 minutes behind the finals, scored two goals in injury time to reverse Bayern Munich , completed the first European Champions League (not including the predecessor of the European Cup), the domestic league, the cup of " three Crown King ." Manchester United is also the first non-preliminary domestic league champion to win the European Championship and is the first major beneficiary of the UEFA Champions League.
In addition to Manchester United, Ukrainian champion Dynamo Kiev also performed well and reached the semi-finals. This is the first time since the Soviet Union was disbanded that the only team with a former Soviet Football Association has reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. It is one of the most important achievements of the Central and Eastern European teams of the New Champions League.
