Boris Gromov , (November 7, 1943 - ), former Russian military and politician.
Biography [ edit ]
Gromov was born in Saratov . He graduated from the Military Command School Sunovov Military Academy in Leningrad and later graduated from the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow and the General Staff Academy.
During the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan , Gromov carried out three battles (1980 - 1982, 1985 - 1986, 1987 to 1989). He was best known as the commander of the 40th Corps. It was also the last Soviet soldier to spear Afghanistan . He later attained the highest military honor: the Soviet Union’s hero Venus because he helped the Soviet army withdraw from Horst.
After the war in Afghanistan, he was elected by the Soviet Communist Party as the vice presidential candidate for the 1991 Russian presidential election . He later served as the first Deputy Secretary of Defense of the Russian Federation. In 1994, Gromov retired from the Russian army and he was soon appointed as the Deputy Minister of the Interior. He was elected as the representative of the State Duma in 1995. In January 2000, he was elected to the Moscow Region long, in December 2003, was re-elected and served until 2012.
